Import Data Product

This flow requires that you have a connector configured for the data platform to sync assets to Data Mesh Manager. View the Integration documentation for more information on how to set up a connector.

In the data product list, you can add new data products by selecting the "Import from Assets" or "Import from [data platform]" (Databricks, Snowflake, Purview, etc.) option in the "Add Data Product" dropdown menu:

This will open a wizard where you get a short introduction to the import process and can select the assets you want to import. The system will then create a data product and a corresponding output port for the selected asset. The output port will be linked to the data product and the asset, so you can easily navigate between them. Furthermore the output port will get a data contract created automatically, which will contain a model based on the asset's structure and relationships. See the steps below:

  1. Start: Read the introduction and click "Next". Import Data Product from Assets Step 1

  2. Select Assets: Choose the asset you want to import as data product. Import Data Product from Assets Step 2

  3. Create Data Product: Gives you an overview of what will get imported and allows you to adapt the ID and name of the data product, output port and data contract. Import Data Product from Assets Step 3
