Insights
Measure the health and adoption of your data mesh with a dashboard of governance metrics.
The Insights dashboard turns your organization's data products, data contracts, access requests, assets, and members into metrics. It answers questions like how much of our data is reused?, how long does it take a new data product to reach its first consumer?, and how quickly are access requests approved?
You'll find it under Governance → Insights (/{organization}/governance/insights). Every KPI tile and chart segment is clickable — selecting one drills down to the underlying data products, data contracts, or access requests.
Scope and filters
- Time range —
7 days,30 days(default),90 days,Year to date,1 year, orAll. Time-based metrics (growth, event counts, Time to Insights, Time to Access) are calculated over the selected period. - Owner team — filter every section to one or more owning teams to see a single domain's numbers.
- Access — organization owners and members of the governance group see the full dashboard. Other members see a limited view.
Overview
The top of the dashboard summarizes the whole organization.
- Data Product Growth — a running count of data products over the selected period.
- Core KPIs — totals with a delta versus the previous period for Data Products, Data Contracts, Teams, Tags, Definitions, Assets, Semantic Concepts, and Source Systems.
- Event KPIs — activity counts in the period: Access Requested, Access Approved, Access Rejected, Access Terminated, Access Activated, and Access Deactivated.
Data Products
An overview of your data products and their characteristics.
Key metrics
- Total Data Products
- With Output Ports — how many expose at least one output port.
- With Contracts — how many have a data contract.
- With Test Results — how many have data quality test results.
- Certified — how many carry a certification.
Charts: Data Products by Team (stacked by type), Data Product Types, Data Product Status, Contract Coverage (contract + tests / contract only / no contract), Visibility Distribution, Active Consumers per Data Product, and Certification Distribution.
Reuse
How often data products are consumed by more than one consumer — the core signal of a healthy data mesh.
A data product counts as reused when it has 2 or more distinct active consumers across all of its output ports.
Key metrics
- Total Reuse — the percentage of data products (that have output ports) which are reused.
- Reused Data Products — the count behind that percentage.
- Avg Active Consumers — the average number of active consumers per data product.
Chart: Reuse by Type breaks the reuse percentage down per data product archetype (for example source-aligned, aggregate, and consumer-aligned).
Time to Insights
The time from a data product's creation to its first active consumer — how long it takes newly published data to deliver value.
Key metrics
- Avg Time to Insights — over the selected period.
- Total Data Products — in scope for the period.
- Awaiting First Consumer — data products that have not yet activated a first consumer.
Chart: Time to Insights Distribution buckets data products into < 1 Week, < 1 Month, < 6 Months, and > 6 Months.
Time to Access
The time from an access request to its approval — a measure of how responsive your access governance is.
Key metrics
- Avg Time to Access — over the selected period.
- Total Access Requests
- Pending Requests — requests still awaiting a decision.
Charts: Time to Access Distribution, Weekly Avg Time to Access, and Avg Time to Access by Team. An Access Status table lists individual requests with their requested/approved timestamps and whether the output port auto-approves.
Data Contracts
An overview of your data contracts and their structure.
Key metrics
- Total Data Contracts
- Total Schemas
- Total Fields
- Avg Fields per Schema
Charts: Data Contract Status, Server Types, Environments, Schemas per Contract, and Servers per Contract.
Assets
A breakdown of ingested assets: By Source, By Asset Type, and By Ingestion.
Users
Adoption across the members of your organization.
Key metrics
- Total Members
- Editors — organization owners plus members whose team role grants edit or approval permissions.
- Marketplace Users — active members who belong to no team and are not owners (disjoint from Editors, so no one is counted twice).
- Active Sessions
Charts: By Language and Member Growth.
